Check the fit for your installation
Suitability for a hazardous area depends on the zone, the gas or dust, the temperature class and the ambient temperature of your installation. These are the limits of the DX marking.
Within the DX marking
- Gas: Zone 1 and Zone 2, group IIC. Temperature class T5 (DX70, DX90) or T4 (DX130).
- Dust: Zone 21 and Zone 22, group IIIC. Surface temperature T100 °C (DX70, DX90) or T130 °C (DX130).
- Environment: Ambient −20 °C to +40 °C. Degree of protection IP65.
Outside the DX marking
- Zones: Zone 0 and Zone 20.
- Mining: Equipment group I.
- North America: Class / Division installations.
- Ambient: Outside −20 °C to +40 °C.
- Temperature class: T6.
These limits apply once certificates in the name of AUREX are issued. The marking and ratings come from the technical manual BA-DX-EN-V7.0 (Table 4-2).
Quick fit check
Enter the conditions of your installation. The check compares them with the target marking of each frame. The values below are an example. It is a first screening and does not confirm suitability.
Enter your conditions to see the result.
For dust, the surface temperature of the motor must be below two thirds of the minimum ignition temperature of the dust cloud and below the ignition temperature of a 5 mm dust layer reduced by 75 K. The target marking applies once certificates in the name of AUREX are issued. Send the eight parameters for an assessment.
The target marking explained
Every DX motor carries a marking that defines where it may be used. Read the marking on the nameplate of the motor itself. The table explains the elements of the target marking of the DX series.
| Element | Value | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Equipment group | II | Surface industry, not mining. |
| Category, gas | 2G | Zone 1 and Zone 2, equipment protection level Gb. |
| Category, dust | 2D | Zone 21 and Zone 22, equipment protection level Db. |
| Protection, gas | Ex db | Flameproof enclosure “db”, EN 60079-1. |
| Protection, dust | Ex tb | Protection by enclosure “tb”, EN IEC 60079-31. |
| Gas group | IIC | The most severe gas group. It includes hydrogen and acetylene. |
| Dust group | IIIC | Conductive dust. |
| Temperature class | T5 / T4 | Maximum surface temperature 100 °C / 135 °C. |
| Dust surface temperature | T100 °C / T130 °C | Maximum surface temperature for dust protection. |
| Protection level | Gb / Db | High level of protection for gas / for dust. |
T5 covers the temperature classes T1 to T5, and T4 covers T1 to T4. DX70 and DX90 are marked T5 and T100 °C, DX130 is marked T4 and T130 °C.
The eight parameters we need
With these eight items we can compare your installation with the DX marking and ratings. If an item is missing we can still discuss the application, but we cannot confirm a compliant selection.
-
Country of final installation
Decides which rules and approvals apply.
